HMONG MINNESOTA LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
sib txhawb sib pab: Share. Grow. Connect.

what is hmlc?
The Hmong Minnesota Leadership Conference (also known as HMLC), is designed to be a space for professional development and career advice. Through various workshops and a panel session, we bring together passionate professionals to speak upon their experiences of navigating their respective fields in order to educate the next generation. The theme for our conference this year is: Sib Txhawb Sib Pab (supporting one another): Share, Grow, Connect.
sib txhawb sib pab: supporting one another
SHARE.
Everyone comes from different walks of life, holding different identities and experiences from their careers. Through this year’s conference, we want to support and develop awareness of Asian Americans in professional spaces through the process of storytelling.
GROW.
We want HMLC to be a space that encourages personal and professional growth. By allowing participants to build a deeper understanding of their own identities, we build reflective leaders who are equipped to handle future career obstacles.
CONNECT.
Building networks is vital in professional development and we're here to help you with that! Our hope is that everyone who attends HMLC will leave empowered by the connections they make, which will further provide inspiration to apply their learnings into their future career path, communities, and beyond.
WORKSHOP THEMES

Workshop Description: Navigating higher education as a Hmong student is difficult. Finding supportive and diverse mentors can be one way to ease the burden of doing it all alone. In this workshop, I aim to get Hmong students to think about their needs, what a mentor is, who is already in their current network of mentors, and how to expand their existing network of mentors. I hope Hmong students will come away feeling more confident and intentional about building a community of mentors to help them achieve their goals.

Workshop Description: This workshop will be a crash course of the essential information I teach in my Careers in Sustainability class at ASU. This course covers several core topics, including career exploration and development, explores values, motivations, and career options. The main focus will be on key elements of a resume and LinkedIn profile, so you can walk away feeling confident in applying for positions and working closer to your desired career goals.

I take great pride in being able to invest in students’ lives and help them plan for fulfilling futures. I strive to offer an accepting space for all students while helping them establish action steps to reach their individualized goals. I am an effective communicator who enjoys incorporating fun, humor, and inclusion into my work. Some of my strengths include project management, advocating for students, and engaging audiences in fun, captivating ways.
Workshop Description: Providing students with necessary information to be successful in the field of internships; how to attain one, how to make the most of it, how to choose one.

Workshop Description: This session will focus on the phases of career development and how we get started learning about ourselves and our career options. Participants will be asked to complete self-reflection activities, and they will be given resources they can use to create an action plan for next steps in their career journey after attending this session.
